"A Place for You" kicks off 11th season, provides a sweet summer treat

Beautiful music, heartwarming stories, and an unforgettable spread of coffee and desserts are in store for Dessert Theater audiences at Center on the Square in Searcy. "A Place for You," provides an enjoyable evening of dessert and music at the Center's historic court square location. Performances are scheduled for July 10-11 and 17-18 with curtain at 6:30 p.m. and dessert and coffee buffet at intermission.

"A Place for You", an evening of cabaret music, was conceived and compiled by Josh Strickland and Ellen Jones exclusively for Center on the Square, and features Strickland, and Jones along with Mike Woodall and Lauren Lawson with Lis Jones at the piano. Full of favorite songs, old and new, the show takes us on a journey about life, love, and finding a place to belong. The music is at times beautiful, at other times hilariously funny, and always thoroughly entertaining.

"We thought this was the perfect way to kick off our eleventh season here at the Center," said Executive Director Lana Hallmark. "Our focus this year is outreach and we want everyone know that no matter where you are on life's journey, there is a place for you at Center on the Square. As a community organization, we want to welcome everyone to come be a part of our family. This show reflects those ideals in a great way, and we're very excited about the upcoming year."

Dessert Theater, a tradition seven years in the making, features delicious home made desserts made by board members and volunteers as well as wonderful gourmet coffees. "Because Dessert Theater is not a full buffet, it gives folks an introduction to the dinner theater experience at much less cost," commented Hallmark. "This year's show promises to be the most entertaining yet, and will feature some of the tastiest treats of the summer."
