Local Artist Group to Meet for Design Program Colored Pencil Society Association District Chapter 222-Texarkana Texarkana, Texas Feb. 23, 2011: Design, ceramics and digital art adjunct professor with Northeast Texas Community College and Texas A&M-Texarkana, Debby Strong, will be the guest speaker for the upcoming Colored Pencil Society Association District Chapter 222 of Texarkana general membership meeting on Saturday, March 5 at the Texarkana Regional Arts Center, at 1:00pm in the Dowd Room, third floor. Ms. Strong’s program, “Keeping Design in Mind”, focuses on the necessary elements of design when creating works of art. Strong encourages participants to bring pencil, paper and/or other mediums for this ‘hands on’ pattern and design session. Ms. Strong took formal art instruction on and off since 1970 when her parents sent her to oil painting lessons with a German master, Herr Ludwig. With a Bachelor of Art degree from the University of Maryland and a Master of Art-Teaching degree from Chapman University, she adds to her ever expanding art and design awareness by regularly attending a variety of art classes which include the subjects of watercolor, color theory, glass fusing, stained glass, pastels, photography as well as drawing. She also teaches an art class at NTCC and TAMU-Texarkana on how to incorporate art into the classroom. CPSA DC 222 is a newly formed, national recognized artist group whose purpose is to promote the medium of colored pencil and the camaraderie enjoyed by fellow artists.
