The 6th annual Eureka Gras Mardi Gras

The 6th annual Eureka Gras Mardi Gras is set for March 3-8 in Eureka Springs. The event is a seven-day Mardi Gras carnival with daily eclectic fun. A variety of activities take place at various venues throughout the town, including the annual Hookers & Jokers Ball at 6 p.m. on March 3 at the Inn of the Ozarks Best Western Convention Center. The event is a costume masquerade ball with a jazz band, dancing, Creole buffet supper, and costume contest. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. The Eureka Gras Coronation Masquerade Ball is March 4. Reservations are a must for this event that includes a dance, jazz band, New Orleans buffet supper with champagne, and costume contest. The cost is $35 for advance tickets. March 5 is the Krewe of Krazo Parade, which will roll down Spring Street at 2 p.m. It is a cavalcade of colorfully costumed dukes and duchesses, king's float, queen's float, Alice in Wonderland float, Wizard of Oz float, bands, and costumed walking groups. There is also a Krewe of Barkus consisting of canines and a Krewe of Kidz. Hundreds of pounds of beads are thrown to parading fans.
