New Year, New Poetry Slam
New Year, New Poetry Slam: The inaugural Awkward Poetry Slam encourages (but does not require) poets to bring an old poem they forgot they wrote. The New Year, New Poetry Slam offers two rounds of competition to the first 12 people to sign up. Registration opens at 6 p.m. and performances start at 7 p.m. Saturday at Andina Cafe, 433 E. Third St. Cover is $5. The Awkward Poetry Slam is a monthly poetry event which challenges participants by juxtaposing the “poetry s lam” format against varying themes.
