Drawings from Dharmasala on Tibet Burning Artist Talk by Tomoyo Ihaya

Vancouver-based artist Tomoyo Ihaya presents a talk about her recent projects in Dharamsala India. Over the past several years, Ihaya has travelled back and forth from Canada to India many times, working on community projects in Ladakh, and Dharamsala. She will show her large body of drawings made in response to the Tibetan community living in exile, which honor the passing of the people who have self-immolated in protest to Chinese occupation. If there is time, Ihaya may also talk about her most recent project "Building Bridges" at Lamo Ladakh. Ihaya has also been involved in an artistic collaboration with EBS member Melissa Gill, culminating in an exhibition on campus at Hendrix College, opening September 18 at 5:30 p.m. in Trieschmann Gallery. The exhibition will run from Sept. 18-Oct 15 and features solo and collaborative mixed media drawings and installation. Contact EBS at 501-376-7056 or at ebs@aristotle.net.
