To Kill a Mockingbird Auditions

Auditions for the Royal Players production of To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee are scheduled for Saturday, March 7, at 1 p.m. and Monday, March 9, at 7 p.m. Performance dates are April 23-26 and April 30-May 3. The director for this production is Frank O. Butler. Many people list Lee’s novel as their favorite book of all time. It won a Pulitzer Prize and has become an American classic. Young Scout Finch lives with her father, Atticus Finch, an attorney, and her older brother Jem in Maycomb, Alabama in 1935. When Tom Robinson, a black man, is accused of raping a white woman, Mayella, Atticus represents him, putting his own family in danger. There will be cold readings from the script. There are crowd scenes parts for ages ten and up. Specific role requirements will be outlined in the Facebook event. This will be the original version of the play, not the revised. Auditions will be at the Royal Theatre, 111 S. Market, in Downtown Benton.
