Riceboy Sleeps Announces first U.S. Art Exhibition and New Works
- Overseas Premiere -
Riceboy Sleeps has announced its first United States Art Exhibition. The well-known Icelandic duo will feature their artwork at Gallery 801 in Hot Springs, Arkansas from Friday August 3, 2007 to Friday, September 7, 2007. The reception will begin at 5 pm Friday August 3rd. Both Riceboy Sleeps artists will attend the opening night for this overseas premiere art exhibit to promote their 11 new "window prints", seen for the first time outside of Iceland.
Riceboy Sleeps is an art collaboration between Jon Thor Birgisson and Alex Somers. Birgisson is a member of the Grammy-nominated, Icelandic band Sigur Ros, and Somers is a graphic designer and member of the band Parachutes. They have been creating art and music together for around four years and last November released their first picture book, also entitled Riceboy Sleeps.
"Riceboy Sleeps is a project we began a long time ago. We make art and music together. We love to observe and find beauty in the small things. Our goal is to create works that are honest and will inspire and bring hope to people," said the artists when asked about the inspiration behind the creative entity.
