August 20 - November 30, 2010 Exhibition: "Raices" Arkansas Studies Institute, Atrium Gallery Born and raised in Coahuila, Mexico, the artist known as CH3MEX moved to the States in 1993. He has worked in design, painting, screen printing, mural sculptures and construction. He has traveled all over Mexico, the Eastern US, the Southwest and Southern United States. He is one of the founders of the Hunab ku movement, an artist collective focused on social art, its expression and influence. Through the use of workshops, shows, events, projects, the collective educates its members and audience about the expression and culture of Mexican-American social art. His work usually focuses on the reaction of both societies Mexican and American. He tends to focus on issues affecting Mexican/Latino communities and their reaction, raids, the wall, immigration, violence, trafficking, etc. He tries to represent the Mexican presence in the United States throughout the art.
