Cantrell Gallery to Host “People, Places & Things” an exhibit of new paintings by Doug Gorrell Cantrell Gallery will host an Opening Night Reception for “People, Places & Things” by Doug Gorrell, Friday, January 21, from 6-8:00 in the evening. The public is invited to come and meet the artist. Refreshments will be served. Born in 1959, Gorrell developed a love of art as a child and started painting in oil at the age of thirteen. As a young adult, Doug studied at esteemed art schools including the Academy of Art College, the Fechin Institute, and the Scottsdale Artists’ School. He has also studied with distinguished Artists John Asaro, Ovanes Berberian, Kevin Macpherson and Charles Sovek. • Gorrell was featured in the International Artist Magazine as a Master Painter of the world - USA • A floral painting of Doug’s was chosen by Northlight Publications and was featured in their book, “Best of Flower painting 2,” • Northlight Publications also chose one of his paintings, a painting of a French cafe’ for their Artist Calendar. • Gorrell won an Award of Excellence at the Oil Painter's of America Regional Show in Chicago, Ill. Doug has traveled and painted from the east to the west coast in the United States. He spent a year in Sicily, and has made numerous trips to France, Italy, Spain and Mexico. His work has been featured in many National shows and is in numerous private and corporate collections. “The thrill of painting is creating something that has meaning to others, and enriches their lives. As a Colorist and Impressionist, my intent is to create works with harmonious color and to simplify my subject matter to its fundamental and poetic form. A Plein-air enthusiast, I paint on location whenever possible, inspired by a direct attachment with nature.” “People, Places & Things” will continue through Saturday, March 5. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 10-5:00.
