The city of Searcy held an Arbor Day Celebration, along with a tree planting ceremony, Nov. 3 at Pioneer Village. Searcy Mayor David Morris and Richard Stafford, chairman of the Searcy Tree Board Commission, were the special speakers. Smokey the Bear was also in attendance for kids to meet. Special attention to trees is nothing new in Searcy. In fact, the Searcy City Council adopted a Tree Ordinance in 2010 and appointed members of a Tree Board, which has the mission of enhancing the tree coverage within the city.
