Inauguration 2009 Satellite Photos


There are no official estimates of the crowd that stretched roughly two miles from the U.S. Capitol to west of the Washington Monument to watch the inauguration of President Barack Obama on Jan.20,2009. Unofficial estimates based on crowd photos put the number at more than 1 million. Some security officials pegged the number at 1.8 million.
