The regular monthly meeting of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will be held beginning at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016, at the Little Rock Office Complex, 2 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205. At that time, regulations and business pertaining to the operation of the Game and Fish Commission and other fiscal and administrative matters will be considered and acted upon, and all interested persons are invited to attend. Additionally, Committee meetings attended by Commissioners and agency staff members will be held throughout the day on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the same location, and all interested persons are invited to attend.
Items on the agenda for the August 18, 2016, 9:00 a.m. meeting will include adoption of proposed regulations that previously were considered at the July 21, 2016 Commission Meeting, plus various Hunting and Fishing Regulations and regulations pertaining to the Enforcement Division of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, including but not limited to:
2017 Fishing Regulations – Adoption of general fishing regulation changes including, but not limited to:
• Amend regulations for boat dock lease and operator requirements for structures, and for licenses and permits to delete existing lease requirement and establish a Commercial Facility Operator’s License Agreement, operator requirements, and a single permit fee to cover all commercial facilities.
• Amend regulations for length limits on certain lakes and rivers to implement (1) a 10-inch minimum length limit for harvest of crappie from Lake Atkins; (2) a 15-18 inch protected slot limit for largemouth bass from Lower White Oak Lake; and (3) a 14-17 inch protective slot limit for largemouth bass from Mallard Lake.
• Amend regulations for game fish daily limits to: (1) remove striped bass 3-fish daily creel limit on Lake Greeson; (2) remove ½ daily creel limit for game fish except crappie on Dr. Lester Sitzes III Bois d’Arc Lake; and (3) implement a 10-fish creel limit for largemouth bass on Lower White Oak Lake.
• Amend regulation for Commercial Fisherman’s Permit and reporting requirements to clarify the need for a commercial license to sell wild caught fish.
• Amend regulations for definition of terms and for prohibiting snagging of game fish to clarify the definition of “snag”, prohibit the possession of game fish when snagging, and implement other restrictions applicable to snagging activity.
• Amend regulation prohibiting gigging of game fish to prohibit possession of game fish when gigging.
• Amend regulation for family and community fishing program restrictions to (1) move Dr. James E. Moore Camp Robinson Firing Range Pond from Family Fishing Program to Community Fishing Program; and (2) remove Landers Lake from the Family Fishing Program.
• Adopt new regulation to prohibit harvest or possession by commercial fishers of certain rare or endangered fish, including Lake Sturgeon, American Eel, Striped Mullet, Highfin Carpsucker, Pealip Redhorse, and Silver Redhorse.
• Amend regulation restricting possession of paddlefish or sturgeon on the White River to close the portion of the river from Newport Access to Jacksonport Access, including backwaters, to commercial fishing harvest or possession of paddlefish, sturgeon or their eggs, or possession of paddlefish nets (gill/trammel nets larger than 3 1/2 inches).
