FAYETTEVILLE Arkansas trainer Dean Weber's initial report on star receiver Marcus Monk's injured knee appears to be a good one.
"We're calling it a bone bruise for now,'' Weber said. "We're going to keep an eye on it for the next three or four days and see how it goes.''
Monk, a preaseason first-team All-SEC pick, injured the knee on a hit from safety Michael Grant midway through practice Thursday evening. The 6-6 receiver got up gingerly and limped back behind the offensive huddle for examination.
Arkansas coach Houston Nutt said after Thursday's practice that the early diagnosis was "probably a torn cartilage.''
Monk, a senior from Lepanto who decided against declaring early for the NFL draft over the winter, is Arkansas' career leader with 24 touchdown catches.
