Mid-America Science Museum hosts educational lectures

HOT SPRINGS With Mid-America Science Museum's mind-boggling traveling exhibit titled "Brain: The World Inside Your Head," as a backdrop during this month and August, the museum team will host a series of educational lectures aimed at creating a deeper understanding of brain chemicals and their effect on human behavior at all ages.
Each lecture in the series will be offered by one of the area's most respected child and adolescent psychiatrists Shamshad Haroon.
Christy Beckwith, the museum's director of development, said, "Haroon is a dynamic and thought provoking speaker. Teachers, parents, caregivers, family members, friends and people at all stages of life will benefit from this series."
The admission to the museum and lunch are included in the registration fee of $10.Only 120 seats are available for each lecture on a first-come, first-served basis. Lectures will be held form 11 a.m. to noon with lunch held from noon to 1 p.m. on the following dates:
◊Friday, "Behavioral Problems in Middle School Kids" presented by middle school teachers
◊Friday, Aug. 3, "Taking Care of the Teen's Changing Brain" presented by high school teachers
◊Friday, Aug. 17, "Stressors of Moving Out and Recognizing Mental Health Issues" presented by college and university staff
◊Friday, Aug. 24, "ABC's of Brain Chemistry" presented by health professionals.
