UA tosses Heath as basketball coach

Broyles assigned to speedy search for replacement

FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas took its time in firing basketball coach Stan Heath but will try to replace him quickly.

Athletic Director Frank Broyles ended a month of uncertainty about Heath's status when he fired Heath, 42, in a Monday morning meeting.

Declining fan interest, lost revenue and not winning big enough ultimately cost Heath his job.
