Accidents kill two on state roadways

— A Jacksonville man was killed Friday after a vehicle ran a stop sign in Lonoke County and hit his motorcycle, while an Arkansas woman was killed in a separate accident Saturday morning.

Aaron D. McCoy, 35, of Jacksonville was hit by Chassidy Mitchell of Vilonia who, according to the Arkansas State Police, drove through a stop sign at the intersection of Arkansas 5 and Arkansas 319. McCoy drove off the road after being hit.

Mitchell, whose age is unknown, was not injured. It was not clear from the police reportwhether she was charged in the accident.

McCoy died after he was airlifted to UAMS Medical Center after the 11:37 a.m. accident.

On Saturday morning, Sheryl F. Hamrick, 56, of El Paso died after striking a dump truck in her vehicle shortly before 8:20 a.m.

Hamrick crossed the center line on Arkansas 5, one mile south of Arkansas 64, in White County. Her vehicle hit a dump truck driven by Daniel Klosky, 58, of Greenbrier.

Klosky was not injured, but Hamrick was pronounced dead at the scene.
