LITTLE ROCK — 100 YEARS AGO Oct. 7, 1907 MOUNTAIN HOME - E.W. Mooney, sheriff of Baxter County, was accidentally shot and instantly killed today while on a train with a prisoner whom he was bringing to Mountain Home. Sheriff Mooney was seated next to the window and while looking out of the open window his pistol fell from his pocket, discharged and killed him.

Bill Davaul, an amateur radio operator, heard the "beep, beep, beep" of the Russian space satellite about 5:10 p.m. yesterday. But several other "ham" operators at Little Rock and North Little Rock whowere asked if their radio sets tracked the satellite said that they couldn't get a signal.
