DESHA — The Ozark Foothills Chili Cook-Off at the Speedway RV Park in Desha on Saturday, Oct. 27, invites artists, craftspeople and other exhibitors to participate in the day-long community event. Displays, information tables and exhibits by area nonprofits and businesses are also invited. Display and exhibit space will be available on the complex grounds and indoors in the former Desha Trading Post building. There is no charge for exhibit or booth space, and all comers are welcome. Spaces will be available beginning at 7 a.m.
The Chili Cook-Off is the centerpiece of a day-long celebration that will include a Classic Car Show presented by the River City Cruisers, Live Music on the Pickin' Porch and a Horseshoe Competition.
Admission to the Cook-Off and all activities is $2 for adults; children 18 and under will be admitted free. Gates open at 9 a.m. Music begins at 10 a.m. Chili Cook-Off judging begins at 1 p.m. Admission includes a chili tasting cup and spoon. Free parking is available. Proceeds benefit the Desha Volunteer Fire Department. The Ozark Foothills Chili Cook-Off is sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America, FNBC and First Community Bank.
