Conway man shot dead; no suspects

— Police said Monday they have no suspects in the shooting death of a Conway hair stylist.

Police identified the victim as Bryan Meads, 30, of Conway. Lt. Danny Moody, spokesman for the Conway Police Department, said Meads had been shot in the head and was holding a cell phone.

Moody said rescue personnel found the body Sunday after a male caller notified 911 at 3:38 p.m.

The caller said a person was bleeding and sitting in a car with the engine still running at June Beene Apartments on Donaghey Avenue.

Moody said police did not yet know of a motive for the crime.

He said he could not comment further on the cell phone, including whether the victim was talking to anyone when he was shot.

He said police do not believe the person who notified authorities of the shooting was the assailant.

Moody said police believe Meads was going to the apartment complex to see someone. He said Meads was alone in the car.

Asked if Meads had a criminal record, Moody said Conway police records indicate the victim had been involved in only two or three minor traffic incidents since 2000.

Meads' death was the second homicide in Conway in 2007.

The first occurred in June when, police said, Conway florist Cynthia Farmer, 47, was cut to death.

Charles Earl Glenn Jr., 34, of Conway was later charged with capital murder in that case and is awaiting trial.
