SUPERMARKET SLEUTH: Marshmallow treats shaped to enchant Halloween crowd

— Halloween is a week away, and the folks at Just Born have some yummy candies for your trick-or-treating or fall carnival needs.

In their marshmallow Peeps line, Just Born is offering individually wrapped Spooky Friends in Pumpkin, Bat, Ghost, Skull, Spider and Mummy shapes. They're available in 18-count and 54-count bags that retail for $2 and $6. And, they're still marketing the bigger versions of marshmallow Pumpkins, Ghosts and Cocoa Cats in assorted sizes and prices.

Mike and Ike and Hot Tamales are also marketed in halfounce boxes packaged in 10.5-ounce bags ($2) and 31.5-ounce variety bags ($6) that contain both versions.

Peanut Chews bars are available in miniature bags of either Original Dark or Milk Chocolate varieties that sell for $2 for 8-ounce bags, $2.80 for 14-ounce bags, and $6 for 3-pound bags of one flavor or a combination bag.

If you want to go more upscale with your Halloween candy, Godiva has a collection of decadent treats. In Arkansas, there are no more Godivaboutiques, but their candies are carried at The Crown Shop, Dillard's, Barnes & Noble bookstores, and Diane's.

This year's creations are:

Strawberry Ghosts, which are chocolate-dipped strawberries decorated to look like ghosts ($4.50).

Halloween gift boxes that are decorated and filled with assorted Godiva chocolates. They're available in three sizes - eightpiece ($14), 16-piece ($24) and34-piece ($40).

Count Teddy Bear, who wears a black and orange cape and holds a box of milk chocolatecovered pretzels ($20).

Pumpkin Patch Truffles that are filled with pumpkin-flavored filling, dusted with cinnamon and individually wrapped in bright orange foil. They're $12.50 for a box of five, or $2 each.

Lucky the Milk Chocolate Cat, who is 6 inches tall and comes in a festive orange and black package ($10).

Milk Chocolate Lollipops that feature a black bat in flight against an orange moonlit night ($5).

A nine-piece Demitasse Box that contains individually wrapped squares of chocolate in an attractive checkerboard design ($8).
