Donations needed for project

— Malvern residents are asked to participate in Operation Christmas Child by filling an empty shoebox with gifts for needy children throughout the world.

Items to be included are small cars, balls, dolls, stuffedanimals, yo-yos, toys that light up, school supplies, such as crayons, pencils, pens and calculators, gum, sunglasses, flashlights with extra batteries, T-shirts, hair clips, toothbrushes, watches and small picture books.

Photos of the giver or giver's family, or a note, are welcome.

The lids of the shoeboxes may be wrapped. The outside of the box should be labeled Boy or Girl and the age category, 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14.

Organizers suggest that a $7 check be made out to Samaritan's Purse to help pay for shipping.

The boxes should be taken to Third Baptist Church on North Main Street by Thursday, Nov. 8, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. More information is available by calling Linda Parker at (501) 332-2601.
