Sherwood police make arrest in burglary case

Sherwood police have arrested a North Little Rock teen for an attempted theft earlier this week that may have resulted in the death of McAlmont man.

Lamarcus Dunn, 18, was arrested Wednesday night and charged with criminal trespass and attempted theft of property in connection with an early morning intrusion at 10701 Highway 107 in Sherwood.

Larry Staley, the homeowner, told police that his wife saw two men in their backyard, near a storage shed. The men left but came back a short time later. Armed with a .22 pistol, Staley fired several shots at one of the men.

Tuesday afternoon, Staley's wife found the body of Bryant Cross, 18, in Gap Creek, in the same general area Staley fired his shots. Police are waiting for the results of an autopsy to verify the cause of death, and they have not verified a connection between Cross and the attempted theft.

Dunn was released today on bond from the Pulaski County Jail.
