outside Park Plaza

Two Little Rock residents told police they were robbed in separate incidents Wednesday outside Park Plaza at Markham Street and University Avenue.

Rebecca Benton, 40, said a man approached her about 2 p.m. as she reached to open her car door, then stuck a small black handgun in her face, according to a police report.

A black man between 20 and 25 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing a red coat and dark pants took $250 in cash, a cell phone and her wallet, according to the report. He fled in a white car that may have had four doors, according to the report.

Seven hours later, Clint Rankin, 22, told police a man robbed him at gunpoint, taking a credit card, debit card, a cell phone and a $5 bill.

According to a police report, Rankin described the robber as a black man with a slim build, between 6 feet 2 inches and 6 feet 3 inches tall, wearing a dark toboggan, a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. Rankin also told police that someone had tried to use his debit card after the robbery.

Little Rock police are continuing to investigate.
