School bus flips; 18 sent to hospital in Virginia

WARRENTON, Va. - A school bus ran off a rain-slick highway and overturned Thursday, sending 18 students and the driver to the hospital with mostly minor injuries, state police said.

Sgt. F.L. Tyler said all the students and the driver were takento a hospital as a precaution.

Four people were admitted and are in serious condition, Fauquier Hospital spokesman Gayla VandenBosch said.

Fifteen were treated and released, she said.

It was unclear whether the driver was released or admitted, she said.

Tyler said the bus was taking the students to a high school when it ran off the side of the road and into a ditch, flipping.

He said no other vehicles were involved.

Fauquier County is located about 40 miles southwest of Washington, in Virginia's horse country.
