Reception welcomes some of nation's top philanthropists to Slate 60 conference

— A reception Oct. 21 in the Garden Room at the Clinton Presidential Center on the first evening of the Slate 60 Conference on Innovative Philanthropy gathered together several of the stars of the event.

Although the host, former President Bill Clinton, was not present, several of the world's biggest philanthropistsmet Arkansans Ginger and Gov. Mike Beebe;

Jo Luck, chief executive officer of Heifer International; Ben and Walter Hussman, publisher of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette; Don Munro of Munro Shoes;

Dorothy Morris ofHot Springs; and Sue Frueauff and daughter, Anna Kay Williams.

Slate, an online magazine, publishes a list each year in February of the 60 most generous Americans.

Among the guests were Michael J. Fox of New York;

Don Graham of Washington; New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer and his wife, Silda; Marguerite Kondracke, president of America's Promise Alliance, and her husband, Morton Kondracke, Fox News political analyst; and Mike Milken of New York.

The talking and visiting did not miss a beat as the party was moved outside to the patio on the beautiful evening because of the squealing of a fire alarm.
