BOWLING: Two 300 games for sporting goods store employee

— Little Rock's Antoine Jones knocked out two 300 games at Millennium Bowl to bring his 300 game total to five. The first came in the A-1 Kool League and the second in the Mixed Foursome.

"I followed games of 166 and 205 with the first 300 for a 671 series. I pulled two balls Brooklyn and carried one really light hit," said Jones, a safety coordinator at Academy Sports. "The second 300 came after games of 230 and 215 for a 745 series. This time they were really good shots the 300. In fact, I bowled good all night."

Jones, 24, took the ring for the first 300 and has an 802 high, two 299 games and a 297. He started bowling at 11 in Colts Neck, N.J., used a Columbia Action Attack ball and averages 205, 206, 211, 214 and 224.

SUPER IN SASBA

During the SASBA tournament at Millennium Bowl won by Ralph Pridmore of Jacksonville, and Martin Pledger of Hot Springs Village, Pridmore struck all five times in the title match that used the Baker format.

In addition, when Pledger shot his 298 game, it came between games of 279 and 247 for 824 and his 15th 800 series. Mike Fleming, Tom Patton, Darin Sharpe and Jason Moore rolled 800s, and Derrick Woods, Sharpe, Omar Arnett, Brinda Burkes and Ben Edwards shot 300 games.

HOT SPRINGS CLASSIC

Andy Black shot his 12th 299 game between games of 199 and 270, giving him a 768 series in the Hot Springs Classic League at Central Lanes in Hot Springs.

"What else, I left a 10-pin, it was a wonderful shot," Black said. "I carried a couple of light swishers, and the rest were good shots.I used a Hammer Sling Blade ball and average 231."

Black, 34, of Hot Springs, who builds games for Baggio.com, started bowling at 5 at Central. He has 28 800 series with an 877 high, which is also second state high. He has 48 300 games, one 298, and 18 11-strikes-in-a-row awards.

He holds the state average record with 250 for 81 games during the 2003-2004 season that ranks second all-time in the nation for a three-man team. He shot 836 and 813 on Sept. 15, 2003, and 845 on Sept. 19, 2003, for a three consecutive series total of 2,494 is the national record.

TEACHER GIVES LESSONS

Sherwood's Gary Haver started the Wednesday Mixed League at Conway Bowl in Conway with his first 299 game. He added games of 197 and 205 for a 701 series.

"All the shots were in the pocket, but I left a 9-pin the last ball," said Haver, a teacher at North Little Rock Middle School. "I used a Storm Trifecta ball and average 194, 199 and 201."

Haver, 59, started bowling at50 at Conway and received the 11-strikes-in-a-row plaque. He has two each 300 games and 11-strikesin-a-row awards, and a 782 high.

CHENAULT'S FIRST 300

Also at Conway in the Commercial League, Morrilton's Howard Chenault sandwiched his first 300 game between games of 258 and 212 for a 770 series.

"All 12 balls were flush pocket shots. This game bettered my previous high of 299 shot during the USBC Championships in Baton Rouge last year," Chenault said. "I used a Power Groove Reactive ball and average 213."

Chenault, 43, started bowling at 8 at Forest Lanes in Morrilton. He has two 800 series with 812 high, one 11-strikes-in-a-row award and took the ring.

BENTON'S FINEST

Teresa Munholland, 50, of Benton racked up her 15th 700 series in Benton's Finest Ladies League at Enterprise Lanes, posting games of 235, 194 and 288 for a 717 series.

"I left the 10-pin to start the 288 game and filled by leaving the 3-6 my last ball," Munholland said. "Iused an Ebonite V2 ball and average 210."

Munholland started bowling at 9 at Rockaway, Ore. She has one 300 game and a 757 high, and has won the Theresa Kelone doubles.

705 IN MONTICELLO

Karen Caldwell, parts manager for Seaark Marine in Monticello, shot games of 203, 258 and 244 for a 705 series in the Tuesday Mixed League at Timber Lodge Lanes in Monticello.

Caldwell, 40, of Monticello, is the first and only woman to roll a 300 game at Timber Lodge. She started bowling at 13 at Timber Lodge, the 700 was her seventh, and she has a 752 high. She used an Ebonite Total NV ball and averages 191 and 209.

TECHNICIAN'S TOP GAME

Willy Whitlock, 28, of Bryant followed games of 218 and 181 with his first 300 game for a 699 series in the 10 Pin Mixed League at Enterprise Lanes.

"I was very lucky as I was all over the place, hitting the Brooklyn pocket and the pins exploding. Itseemed like I couldn't miss," Whitlock said. "I was very nervous and tried not to look at my score. It was very exiting, and I took the ring. I had had 12 strikes in a row before, but over two games. Tonight, I had 15 in a row."

Whitlock, a Lincoln/Ford technician, started bowling at 12 at Pike Lanes in North Little Rock. He bettered a 277 game, has a 722, used a Roto Grip Epic ball and averages 184.

PYRAMID POWER?

James Bullard, 61, of Maumelle, director of driver operations for Chiefseahawk Transport LLC, ran off games of 234, 195 and 300 for a 729 series in the Millennium First League at Millennium Bowl.

"This was my seventh 300 game and the ugliest I've ever shot. The fourth frame was a Brooklyn, the sixth frame dead on the nose, and the 12th ball, another Brooklyn," Bullard said. "It would never have happened had I not recently read Power of the Pyramids and started storing my balls under a pyramid. They seem to have so much more power and energy."
