Happy trails

CLARK TRAIL, LAKE WILSON, FAYETTEVILLE Location:

Begin in south Fayetteville at the intersection of East 15th Street (Arkansas 16) and MorningsideDrive, which is also known as Arkansas 156 and City Lake Road.

Go south on Morningside for 1 .9 miles, then turn left on Wilson Hollow Road, which soon becomes gravel. Cross the one-lane bridge and turn left at the sign for Lake Wilson. Trailhead and pavilion areat the parking area.

Length:

The well-marked lasso-loop trail is 2.5 miles.

Main attractions:

Easy-to-moderate path follows the lakeshore, cuts across streams and rises through bluffs to an old ridgetop road before descendingpast tiny waterfalls to the lake and returning.

Hazards:

Loose footing in spots. The old road was muddy, if that's a hazard.

: Parking, shelter at trailhead.

: None.

Dog, bike, tyke friendly

: Dogs and kids will love this trail. It's too rocky and muddy for bikes.
