PAULA PARRISH DERRICK. The Lord came to Paula and said 'You fought a long and hard battle but now it's time to go and walk with me. On theway we must stop and write in a book and tell others how long and hard you fought for all to see, for what you did is one for the books.'

Paula Parrish Derrick was born June 9, 1945, to the late Paul and Edna Parrish. The Lord came and got his angel on Oct. 26, 2007. She was preceded in death by one sister, Sue Hultsman of Covina. Calif. She resided in North Little Rock her whole life, graduating from NLRHS in 1963. She married Harley Derrick on May 30,1964. Soon after they started raising a family. She was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom. Her greatest joy was raising her two daughters, Traci and Shannon. She loved decorating and cooking great meals for her family on holidays. She was an active member of Levy PTA, where she was President for two years and received a lifetime pin. After 12 years of illness the Lord came to her.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years and caregiver, Harley Derrick; daughters and caregivers, Traci Derrick and Shannon Derrick (Alvertis Murry); three grandchildren, Jessica Leighann Derrick, Jacob Lucas Derrick and Willie Walton III; one sister, Barbara Shirley and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

A special thanks to Baptist Hospice, Shirley Brown and Brenda Denio, who did a wonderful job taking care of her in her last days and all the doctors who helped through her illness. God Bless them.

KEEGAN LEE HOFFMAN of North Little Rock was born and passed away Oct. 27, 2007. Keegan is survived by parents, Elizabeth Benson and Michael Hoffman; one brother Londyn Remington; grandparents, Sam and Martha Hoffman and Clara Benson; great grandparents, Cindy Hoffman, Ruby Meyers and John and Mary Collins.

DARRYL KEITH REACH, 64, of Little Rock passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007. Born Jan. 25, 1943, in Herrin, Ill .,he was the son of Damon D. and Vera M. (Thorpe) Reach. As a lifelong educator, he shared his love of science with many individuals over the years.

Mr. Reach was a member of the National Education Association, IllinoisScience Teachers Association and also Crestview Baptist Church in Englewood, Ohio. He spent 43 years as an educator, 13 years as a chemistry instructor at UALR, eight years at Wright State University and Sinclair Community College, Dayton, Ohio, five years at Gallup High School in Gallup, N.M.; 15 years at Herrin High School, Herrin, Ill. and John A. Logan College, Carterville, Ill. and two years at East Peoria High School, East Peoria, Ill.

Preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Damon D. Reach, he is survived by his wife, Rebecca Reach; three daughters, Lynn Miller and her husband, Jim, of Albuquerque, N.M., Donna Cummins and her husband, Dennis, of St. Joseph, Ill. and Dianne Reach of Indianapolis, Ind.; six grandchildren, Daniel and Rebecca Miller, Darren, David, and Deanna Cummins, and Ricky Reach; one brother, Dale W. Reach of Pontiac, Ill.; two nieces, Deborah Jaso and her husband, Tony, of Pontiac, Ill. and Diana Hughes and her husband, Dan, of Rochester Hills, Mich.; one nephew, George Edman and his wife, Stephanie, of Tujunga, Calif. and one brother-in-law, J. Thomas Edman and his wife, Marilyn, of Plainfield, Ill.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at Lifeline Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Dial officiating. There will be no visitation.

JOHN PAUL SAWATSKI, born Oct. 2, 1951, in Little Rock. He entered thepresence of the Lord on Oct. 26, 2007. He was 56. John was happiest when surrounded by his family, playing his guitar, working on a project or coaching youth in baseball, softball or basketball.

John played professional baseball inthe Cardinal's organization. He was a real estate appraiser. He gave countless hours of service at Pulaski Academy, at Fellowship Bible Church and in the community.

John was preceded in death by his father, Carl and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Treva; children, Jay, Carla and Johanna; mother, Dorothy; a brother, Charles; aunts, uncles, nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. The celebration of John's life will be Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at 12 noon at Fellowship Bible Church with Dr. Robert Lewis and David Bruns officiating. ALEXANDER - Ernestine C. Smith, 80, of Alexander died Oct. 27, 2007, in Alexander. She was born May 12,1927, in Sparkman, Ark., to Lunie and Ola Mae Brumley Baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas James Smith Jr.; a daughter, Patricia Ann Smith of Malone; a sister, Sandra Jean Howell; andtwo brothers, Charles H. Baker and Huel Baker.

Survivors include four grandchildren, Sonya Goforth and husband David of Alexander, Tonya Milam and husband Eddie of Bryant, Phil Allen of Alexander and Darrell Carter of Little Rock; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Winn Baker and wife Teresea of Bryant, Charles Olan Baker and wife Florence of Alexander; and a sister, Louise Hudspeth and husband Bill of Lonoke; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander with Mr. Bill Laird officiating. Pallbearers will be Russell Baker, Tom Allen, Wayne Carter, David Goforth, Eddie Milam and David Dove. BATESVILLE - Nadine Yancey Kyle, 80, of Batesville died Saturday, Oct. 27. She was born April 2, 1927, at Patmos, Ark., the daughter of Robert Lee Yancey and Callie Mae (Biddle) Yancey. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Merritt of Batesville; a son, Forrest Kyle of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Yancey Kyle and his wife Melissa of Smackover, Jenny Merritt and Sam Merritt; and three step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Dennis Merritt.

BENTON - Arcie Belcher, age 97, of Benton died Oct. 26, 2007. She was born on Sept. 14, 1910 in Benton, Ark., to the late Will and Georgia Ledbetter. Mrs. Belcher was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Benton.

She is survived by one son, Bobby Robinson and wife Marilyn of Corpus Christi, Texas; two daughters, Jean Moore and husband John of Alamo, Texas, and Marilyn Johnson and husband Jim of Bella Vista, Ark.; one stepdaughter, Patsy Parker of Birmingham, Ala.; one granddaughter, Adelia Edgar of Corpus Christi, Texas; three grandsons, Ty Robinson of Corpus Christi, Texas, Kevin Robinson of San Antonio, Texas, and Brad Johnson of Rogers, Ark.; one step-grandson, Ronnie Parker of Birmingham, Ala.; eight great-grandchildren and six greatgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Lee Cemetery in Benton, Ark. Dr. Rick Grant will be officiating.

CABOT - Bert Edward Hertel, 76 of Cabot, Ark., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at his home. He was born July 19, 1931, in South Charleston, W.Va. to the late Herbert P. and Effie Velma Kinder Hertel. Mr. Hertel served in the United States Marines and retired with the rank of Sgt.

Survivors include his wife, Mary S. Penny-Hertel of Cabot, stepchildren; Dottie Martin of Jacksonville and Charley Morden of Arlington, Texas; four step-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

CAMDEN - James Everett Mullens, 80, of Camden died on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007. He was retired from Southwestern Bell, and a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Mullens of Camden; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy and Willie Casteel of Camden; daughter, Debbie Mullens of Texarkana, Ark.; four grandchildren, Kim Casteel of Jamestown, Ohio; Lesa Kress of Canton, Ohio; Adam and Jamie William of Texarkana, Ark.; and two great-granddaughters, Abbey and Bailey Kress of Canton, Ohio.

WHITE HALL - Beverly J. Terry, 69, of White Hall died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at the University of Arkansas forMedical Sciences in Little Rock.

She was born Feb. 5, 1938, in Pine Bluff, daughter of the late Sam Scallion and Pauline Corder Beasley. Mrs. Terry was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff. She graduated from PineBluff High School a year early and attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Mrs. Terry worked as a clerk for Arkla Gas for many years. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Pine Bluff.

Survivors include her husband, William "W.R." Terry, whom she married Aug. 27, 1966, in Pine Bluff; son, Bruce Terry of White Hall; daughter, Roxann Owen of Little Rock; half-brother, Sam Wayne Scallion of Pine Bluff; half-sister, Cathy Roberts of the Pine Bluff area; and three grandchildren, Meredith Owen, Katie Terry and Dylan Owen.

Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, at Trinity Episcopal Church with The Reverend Dr. Walter Van Zandt Windsor officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Little Rock at 2 p.m. with Father Rocki Proffitt officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Robinson's.
