ASU's Leonard is O'Brien semifinalist

JONESBORO - Arkansas State's Corey Leonard is a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien Award, given to the nation's top quarterback.

"Obviously this is a great honor for Corey and our program," Arkansas State coach Steve Roberts said. "In addition to Corey, a lot of credit for this honor goes to our entire offensive staff and players."

Leonard has thrown for 1,681 yards this season and rushed for 377. He is one of 15 semifinalists.

Brown wins Southland honor - again

CONWAY - Central Arkansas quarterback Nathan Brown was named Southland Conference offensive player of the week for the third time in four weeks Monday.

Brown threw for 338 yards and four touchdowns in a 49-42 overtime win over Nicholls State on Saturday night. He has thrown 220 consecutive passes without an interception.

2 UAM players win GSC honors

MONTICELL - Arkansas-Monticello quarterback Scott Buisson was named Gulf South Conference offensive player of the week Monday, and Boll Weevils cornerback Scooter White took defensive honors.

Arkansas-Monticello beat West Alabama 44-36 Thursday night.

Buisson threw for 308 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for 126 yards and two TDs. White had two interceptions and a sack.
