Police shoot man while serving warrant

— A police SWAT team in northwest Arkansas shot a man while serving a search warrant near the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville.

Members of the Emergency Response Team entered an apartment at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and found Taylor "Trent" Breeden, 25. Breeden was armed when officers broke down the apartment door and they exchanged fire with him, said Fayetteville police Sgt. Shannon Gabbard.

The emergency response team, made up of officers from the Fayetteville Police Department and Washington County Sheriff's Office, retreated from the apartment and called paramedics. The paramedics could not revive Breeden.

Two Fayetteville officers are on paid administrative leave pending investigation of the shooting, standard police procedure whenever an officer fires.

None of the eight officers on the scene were injured.
