LR Central High events close streets; shuttle service to run

— Various road closures will be in effect today around Little Rock Central High School for events related to the 50th anniversary of its desegregation.

Free shuttle service will be provided to the Central High commemoration ceremony today from the state Fairgrounds at Roosevelt Road and Howard Street.

However, the service will be available only to people with a ticket for the day's events.

Shuttle service will run from about 7:30 to 9 a.m. and from the conclusion of the ceremonies until 3 p.m.

Transportation for the disabled will be provided, and only service animals are allowed.

Bottled water will be distributed free at the site of the events.

All bags will be subject to a security check, and duffle bags, luggage and backpacks will not be allowed.

Confiscated items will not be returned.

Other items not allowed at the events include:

Coolers.

Beverages, bottles or cans.

Food.

Strollers or wagons.

Chairs.

Skateboards, bicycles, skates.

Horns or other noisemakers.

Weapons, knives, fireworks or sticks of any kind.
