Heber Springs student awarded scholarship

— Douglas Knight of Heber Springs High School won the scholarship contest held by the Little Red River chapter of The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Knight will receive a $100 scholarship from the chapter, and his entry has gone on to the state competition.

The Little Red River chapter of DAR encompasses White, Cleburne and Van Buren counties. Each of the 14 schools selected aGood Citizen, and eight of the 14 Good Citizens went on to participate in the scholarship contest.

Good Citizen awards were presented to Sho Uemera of Shirley High School, Nicole Pararin of Concord High School, Hunter Robinson of Bradford High School, Christina Mc-Guire of Quitman High School, Brooke Elizabeth Carr of West Side High School, Monique Alyssia Ball of Bald Knob High School, Kyle Cantlon of WhiteCounty Central High School, Emily Anne Reynolds of Rose Bud High School, Ashley Nicole Watkins of Beebe High School, Ashley Louks of Pangburn High School, Anna Minor of Searcy High School, Chantal Rose Luttrell of Riverview High School and Jacob Martin of Harding Academy High School.

Each winner had the book Arkansas Historical Markers presented to their respective libraries in their names by the DAR.
