Railcars carrying chlorine derail in Magnolia

A train derailed Friday morning in the southern city of Magnolia, causing several rail cars full of chlorine to tip over but no leaks were reported.

According to Larry Taylor, director of Columbia County's Office of Emergency Management, no one was injured in the accident, which was caused by a break in the railroad.

Five tanker cars, each filled with 17,000 gallons of chlorine, tumped over.

A hazardous materials crew was on the scene to help with the cleanup.

Two nearby businesses, both production plants, sent employees home as a precaution.
