— QUITMAN - Justin Wiedower, son of Rodney and Jennifer Wiedower of Quitman, is the recipient of the 2008 Arkansas State Fair Farm and Ranch Club of Arkansas Livestock Exhibitor Scholarship.

Wiedower received the $1,000 scholarship Aug. 1 at the Arkansas State Fair Board of Directors annual meeting in Little Rock. He will use the scholarship to help fund his education as he pursues a bachelor of science degree in agriculture business and education at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. He hopes to become an agriculture teacher and FFA adviser upon completion of his degree.

Wiedower has been involved in livestock shows since he was a young child. He raised and showed lambs for nine years and hogs for six years and has participated at the county, district, state and national levels.

Wiedower serves as state president of Arkansas FFA as well as an Arkansas State Fair Junior Ambassador. He was a nationalFFA delegate in 2007 and has also attended the Washington Leadership Conference.

While livestock show participation has been the focus of his extracurricular activities as a student at Quitman High School, he has also been active in Student Council, Quitmanfest, his church youth group, Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and the ArkansasJunior Cattlemen's Association. He has also played on the junior varsity and varsity basketball team at Quitman since 2000.
