Rock Club to present earthquake program

CHEROKEE VILLAGE — There will be a program about earthquakes at the next Spring River Gem and Mineral Club meeting from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at the Omaha Center in Cherokee Village.
The presentation is called Earthquakes: The New Madrid Seismic Zone. It will cover the seismic zone and provide updates on ongoing research at the Arkansas Center of Earthquake Education and Technology Transfer to identify and characterize specific features related to historic and prehistoric earthquakes in eastern Arkansas.
