Legislators asked to explore new tax alternatives

Lawmakers could consider granting a tax credit to help low-income taxpayers pay their grocery bills as an alternative to further reducing the state sales tax on groceries, an economist for the Tax Foundation said Wednesday in reviewing the state's business tax climate for the Legislature's tax panels.
