Huckabee wins West Virginia

Mike Huckabee won the West Virginia Republican presidential convention, with Mitt Romney coming in second, according to vote tallies reported by the party.

With all the votes counted, Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas, took 51.5 percent of the 1,100 ballots cast. Romney, a former governor of Massachusetts, had 47.4 percent.

Huckabee received a boost after backers of rival John McCain threw him their support to prevent Romney from capturing the winner-take-all GOP state convention vote.

The state has 27 delegates to the Republican National Convention in September, including 18 based on today's vote.

Twenty-four states, including Arkansas, are holding caucuses or primaries in the biggest single day of voting in this year's campaign for the presidential nomination.
