"Joe! It's headed straight for you!" Conway County Emergency Manager Brandon Baker yelled above the wail of tornado sirens.

Baker was on the radio with Joe Tsosie, his counterpart in neighboring Van Buren County, in the seconds after Tuesday's tornado ripped through Baker's community.

Tsosie was behind the wheel of a Crown Victoria, headed toward Morrilton when he heard Baker's warning.

"I notified the sheriff's office, and he called the TV stations," Tsosie said. "I told Brandon we would take cover."
