LITTLE ROCK Stephen Ray is getting a second crack at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions this weekend in New York. That is, if he fights off the sinus infection that was plaguing him last week.
Ray, a 23-year-old baritone from Sherwood who plans to wrap up his bachelor of arts degree from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia in May, will be competing in the national semifinals Sunday on the stage of the Met, part of New York's Lincoln Center.
He won the Arkansas district auditions Jan. 12 at Wildwood Park in Little Rock and the Mid-South regional auditions (Arkansas, Tennessee and parts of northern Mississippi and Alabama) Jan. 19 at the Germantown Performing Arts Center in Memphis.
