Siblings plead not guilty in death of woman

NASHVILLE — An elderly woman and her brother pleaded not guilty Wednesday to hiring someone to kill his estranged wife.

JoAnn Hicks, 74, of Ogden and Wyouman David Camp, 63, of Stamps entered pleas in Howard County Circuit Court to charges of being accomplices to first-degree murder in the death of Robin Camp.

The 42-year-old woman was working at the Nashville Family Dollar store May 26 when she was shot to death. Hicks and Camp are accused of hiring Harry Surber, 37, of Ashdown to kill Robin Camp in exchange for $5,000 and a pickup truck.

Circuit Judge Charles Yeargan set a hearing date for Nov. 5 and a trial date for Dec. 2.

David Camp and his sister also have been named persons of interest in the 35-year-old murder of Hicks' husband, Herbert Hicks, police say.
