Residents graduate from State Police Academy

LITTLE ROCK — Several Arkansas State Police Academy recruits from the River Valley and Ozark area graduated July 3 in ceremonies at the state Capitol in Little Rock.

Members of the "A" class graduates include:

◊Jake A. Bartlett, 27, of Russellville, who will be assigned to Troop A, Pulaski County. Bartlett is a graduate of the University of Arkansas.

◊Kevin M. Growns, 22, of Perryville, who will be assigned to Troop E, Lincoln County. Growns is a graduate of the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton.

◊Brian Johnson, 31, of Atkins, who will be assigned to Troop J, Van Buren County.

Class "A" graduates reported to class Feb. 10, and accumulated 1,107 hours of classroom studies and practical training exercises. Class members are each eligible for 41 college credit hours toward a criminal justice degree from Black River Technical College at Pocahontas.

Local members of the "B" class graduates include:

◊William Jayson Crabb, 33, ofRussellville, who will be assigned to Troop K, Garland County.

The "B" class, made up of recruits who were already certified by the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards as law enforcement officers, reported to class April 13 and completed a 12-week accelerated classroom and practical training regimen. They accumulated 625 hours of course studies and training exercises and will be eligible for 29 hours of college credit toward a criminal justice degree at Black River Technical College.
