Hogs WR charged with DWI

— Arkansas Razorbacks wide receiver Marques Wade was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and careless driving after police said he sped through a parking lot, slid to a stop and nearly struck a police officer with his car Saturday night.

Wade, 19, was booked at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, posted a bond of $880 and was released at 3:19 a.m., according to the Washington County Detention Center Web site. Police said the sophomore from Ellenwood, Ga., blew a 0.11 on a breath-alcohol test, more than five times the legal limit for those under the age of 21.

Arkansas Coach Bobby Petrino is aware of the arrest, "is very upset" and will deal with the matter, said Kevin Trainor, UA associate athletic director for media relations and communication.

The report said Wade "had the odor of intoxicants" when a Fayetteville police officer approached him in a parking lot at the corner of West Stone Street and West Biloxi Crossing after Wade's car nearly slid into another officer. When asked how much he had to drink, police said Wade replied "he had not been drinking, but had smoked some marijuana earlier in the day." According to police, Wade failed a battery of field tests before being taken to the Washington County Detention Center and taking the breath-alcohol test.

The legal limit in Arkansas is .08, but for the underaged it is .02.
