State newborn screenings rise to 29

Arkansas' increase in tests for rare disorders meets U.S. standards

On Tuesday, Arkansas will join 19 other states and the District of Columbia in screening newborns for 29 rare but treatable genetic disorders that can lead to serious mental and physical developmental problems or death if not caught early.
