Halftime speech rouses Earle

— It might need some selective editing, but Earle Coach Billy Murray has a motivational tape he wants to sell.

Murray's halftime speech inspired the Bulldogs to a 67-62, comeback victory over Stephens in the Class 2A state championship game before 2,891 at Summit Arena on Thursday night.

"I got up in their face," Murray said.

Murray wouldn't, or couldn't, reveal the specific language he used - "You'd have to bleep it," he said - but the challenge worked.

The Bulldogs, who faced a deficit of 14 points midway through the second quarter and trailed 37-26 at halftime, made a furious rally to open the second half, feeding off four Stephens turnovers to pull into a 38-38 tie on a steal by tournament MVP Steven Meredith and a three-pointer by Darron Weeden.
