BOWLING: Manila bowler rings up first 800 series in Jonesboro

— Terry Ivy, 53, of Manila, rattled the pins for his first 800 series in the doubles event of the Arkansas State Men's USBC tournament at the Jonesboro Bowling Center.

Ivy, who owns TJ Siding, ran off games of 278, 269 and 258 for an 805 series.

"I left two 10-pins and a 9-pin the second game and finished with 29 of a possible 36 strikes," Ivy said. "I popped my wrist the sixth frame of the last game and at that time thought maybe a 790 series. When I got to the 10th frame I looked up and saw I needed a double and a big count. I went off the sheet and I'm taking the ring."

Ivy started bowling at 46 in Jonesboro, used a Hammer Black Widow Bite ball, and averages 210 and 218. He has two 11-strikes-ina-row awards.
