LITTLE ROCK — More than 500 people gathered May 9 to celebrate the eighth year of "Taste of the Mediterranean" at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
The $50,000 proceeds from the event's silent and live auctions added to the proceeds from a golf tournament Monday for a total of more than $200,000. Two trips to Costa Rica caused a bidding war during the live auction, with the trips finally being sold for $9,000 each.
Eva Sargent was event chairman. Her committee included Teri and Bek Kaiser, golf tournament chairman, Haitham Alley, Darrow Jones, Wayne Alley, Rusty Rivers, Joey Lambert, Julia Hamra, Carol Hawkins and Jill Weatherly.Pete Vratsinas prepared the Greek dinner, while Anna Clift made all the pastries.
