Hot Tubs shocker at Juanita's!

— A band with the musical clout on the order of Green Day could, at the very least, make a serious run at selling out Alltel Arena. Green Day has won Grammys and sold many, many millions of copies of its albums Dookie and American Idiot, to name just two.

But you couldn't say the same about a band called Foxboro Hot Tubs. Right?

As it turns out, you can because Foxboro Hot Tubs is Green Day's nom de plume and the group is starting a tour in Little Rock at9 p.m. Monday at Juanita's, 13th and Main streets.

The capacity for the downtown club is 300 and the show will be standing room only.

Tickets will only be sold the day of the show at the club's box office for $20 each, with a limit of two tickets per person. The show is open to those 18 and older.

MTV News calls it "... probably the worstkept secret in rock history, but it's a secret no more: Green Day have confirmed that they are, in fact, the Foxboro Hot Tubs."

"We think that the only similarity [between the Hot Tubs and Green Day] is that we are the

same band. That is basically the only similar

ity," according to a band statement. "We are

Jason White, Jason Freese, Michael Pritchard,

Frank Edwin Wright III and the Reverend

Strychnine Twitch.

"We are ... guys who love to play music and be

spontaneous, [and] after a few late-night jams anda few too many bottles of wine, we were inspired to record some rockin' eight-track recordings."

Green Day's bassist Mike Dimt's real name is Michael Pritchard and drummer Tre Cool was born Frank Edwin Wright III.

"We're just going to assume that 'Strychnine Twitch' is the alter ego [Billie Joe] Armstrong has adopted for the Hot Tubs project (it's also a lyric in Foxboro's tune 'Stop Drop and Roll'). Freese and White have both played on Green Day's recent albums and White is also a member of Armstrong's side project, Pinhead Gunpowder," according to a Web log on rateyour music.com. White, who was born in Little Rock in 1973, has been a member of the central Arkansas bands Numbskulz, Chino Horde, The Big Cats and The Kicks, as well as other bands (Step by Step, Fishwagon, Monsula, Pretty, Sixteen Bullets, The Influents and The Network).

For those who fail to get into the Little Rock show, other appearances this month are at One Eyed Jacks in New Orleans, Tuesday; The Loft in Dallas, Wednesday; Emo's in Austin, Texas, Thursday; The Brick House in Phoenix, May 25; Soma: Sidestage in San Diego, May 26; The Roxy in Los Angeles, May 27; and Alex's Bar in Long Beach, Calif., May 28.
