Mailbox improvement topic of May 19-23

CONWAY - U. S. Postal Service designates the third week in May to be Mailbox Improvement Week. This week is designed to encourage postal customers on city motorized or rural routes to improve the appearance of their mailboxes, as well as fix any issues that will bring their boxes up to official standards.

Both Conway post offices will have displays of proper and improper mailboxes from Monday through Friday, May 23.

Mailbox standards include a height of 42-48 inches above the road surface,mailbox is level and securely fastened, flag and door work properly, house number is displayed on the mailbox door or on side that is visible to the mail carrier, road to the mail box should be in good condition and free of all obstructions, and the mailbox should be located in such a way the carrier does not have to leave their vehicle.
