VAN BUREN — Police have identified the man who drowned after his boat crashed into a piling for an Interstate 40 bridge.
Police say Andrew Scott, 48, was thrown into the water after the boat crashed into the piling at a high speed Thursday night.
The collision happened near a baseball park. Authorities say three T-ball coaches jumped in the water after hearing the crash and helped pull the unconscious man out of the creek.
Officers say Scott was a well-known fisherman who has competed in numerous local fishing tournaments.
The crash remains under investigation.
