Students win Skills USA honors

RUSSELLVILLE - Several Area Career and Technical Center students in Russellville placed at the Skills USA state competition in Hot Springs.

Nearly 2,000 students from around the state competed in the event. The first day of the event consisted of written tests in both leadership and technical fields. This was followed by hands-on tasks designed to measure and challenge students' knowledge, ability and skill level in their specific technical training area. Winners from the Area Career andTechnical Center in Russellville included:

Tyler Haney of Dardanelle, first place in plate cutting for metal fabrication.

Jordan McCormic of Russellville, third place in computer numerical code turning for machine tool technology.

Rocky Smith of Russellville, third place in computer maintenance.

J. Mitch Woodson of Russellville, third place in culinary arts.

Jeff Hedrick of Russellville and Cody Parsons of Dardanelle, third place in community service.

Jason Ewing of Ola, third place for plate cutting for metal fabrication.

Jacqui Skiles of Clarksville, third place in cosmetology, less than 400 hours.

Lauren Huckabay of Dover, third place in cosmetology, more than 400 hours.
